A Middle School Model
Designed for Growth

Fort Worth STEAM Academy’s academic model was built from the ground up. We focused on what students at this age actually need to succeed and designed every element of the school day around that answer.

Built Around What Middle Schoolers Actually Need

Middle school is a pivotal time, academically and personally. Students at this age need structure, challenge, and connection. Our model is built around four core design principles:

📚
More Time on What Matters

Double literacy and strong math instruction — more time on the subjects that determine high school readiness.

👥
Every Student Known

Clear expectations, consistent routines, and regular celebrations, so every student feels seen and supported.

🔬
Learning That Feels Real

STEAM integration throughout the day means students apply knowledge, not just memorize it.

🏆
A Clear Path Forward

Early high school credit opportunities and college-readiness skills built in from day one.

"Two literacy courses a day means twice the practice, twice the feedback, and twice the chance to become the kind of reader and writer who is ready for anything."

Our Academic Programs

  • Every student learns differently — and every student deserves instruction that meets them where they are.

At Fort Worth STEAM Academy, students participate in a daily Individualized Learning block designed to strengthen the skills each student needs most. Using high-quality instructional tools and real-time student data, teachers identify where students are excelling and where additional support or challenge is needed.

During this time, students may work on targeted reading or math practice, receive small-group instruction, or engage with adaptive learning tools that adjust to their progress.

The goal is simple: ensure every student continues to grow.

  • Fort Worth STEAM Academy believes every student is capable of more than they’ve been told. We offer the opportunity for ALL students to earn high school credit before they ever step foot into 9th grade.

This is more than a head start on a transcript. It’s a signal to your child that we take their potential seriously — and a concrete advantage when they begin high school.

  • Every morning at Fort Worth STEAM Academy begins not with a lesson, but with connection.

Our 15-minute daily advisory period is one of the most intentional parts of our school day. Each student has a dedicated advisor — a trusted adult who checks in, listens, and helps students start the day grounded and ready to learn.

    ·  Advisory runs every morning from 7:45 to 8:00am.

    ·  Groups are small so every student has a real relationship with their advisor.

    ·  Activities build community, practice social-emotional skills, and set a positive tone for the school day.

    ·  Advisors are a consistent point of contact for families throughout the year.

Research is clear: students learn better when they feel known and connected. Advisory isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s a core part of our model.

  • Reading and writing are the foundation of every other subject. A student who struggles to read will struggle in science, history, and math — even if the underlying concepts are within reach.

That’s why Fort Worth STEAM Academy offers two separate literacy courses every single day. Not a longer English class — two distinct courses with different focuses:

    · Our Reading class focuses on reading comprehension, close reading of complex texts, vocabulary development, and analytical thinking.

    ·  Our Writing class focuses on writing craft, grammar, communication, and giving students a strong, confident voice on the page.

More time on literacy conveys our deep belief that every student deserves the time to become a strong reader and writer before they reach high school.

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics are woven throughout the school day as lenses students use to understand and engage with the world. ‍
A math lesson connects to a real engineering challenge. A science experiment connects to a writing assignment. An art project connects to data visualization.
This cross-disciplinary approach develops the exact skills — critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication — that high schools and employers are looking for.
